Encoding DivX

Can I encode using the DivX codec? I know it is not in the supported codec list in the help file, but QT can do it, so I figure why can I not give QT the order to do it in Jitter.

I am trying to make use of jit.grap and write with the DivX codec. The format is important for the way I am treating the file afterwards.

Thnx,

usually yuo get to know which codecs yuor qucktime supports using the3
"getcodeclist".
the is a divx port for quicktime but afaik its similar to the open free xvid
codec - http://n.ethz.ch/student/naegelic/download/

Shouldn't it be the case that everything I can encode with my QT-Pro I should be able to encode with Jitter?

Because I could not find the DivX codec in that listing.

Also the help file said I need a encoder component for every codec I would wish to use, is that the same as QT being able to use it or different?

Thanks,

Maarten

i am not a mac user. but on windows that is correct.
as i mentioned. connect getcodeclist to jit.qt.record.

Hi all,

I've found that I have a DivX codec recognized by Jitter. However this is the Divx@_507 which is incompatible with the other system. So what do I need to install to get the codec I need. Is that what is called the "compressor component" in the help file?

"Divx@_507", what is this? google dont know this.
and what is "the other system"?
mybe its better you explain your goal, not your problem.

Ok,

Your first answer was correct, use that getcodeclist. If the codec is not in there then search for the component as mentioned in the help file.

That problem is solved.

However, there is another problem. :) I need to use the AVI container format, not the MOV container format..

I need to use the AVI container for the software where Jitter makes it input for. Some other software I wrote which solely uses the AVI container.

Is there a way to use the AVI format in Jitter?

You can use jit.qt.movie's export functions.

So then I can convert to AVI, indeed. But It also converts to apple cinepack. However I want to keep the DivX codec. Not also convert to apple cinepack.

There are extra options like BMP, DV-PAL, etc. but no DivX codec alas.

So how could I fix that? Shouldn't the same list be available as the getcodeclist?

Thanks,

Maarten

Did you send the message "export fulldialog" and get the exporter
options dialog for AVI export? I bet that your DIVX codec is in the
codec list in the Video Settings part of the dialog.
