externals objects in max for live?

Hello guys,

I am thinking about buying or not Max for live. So before taking a desition I'd need to know the next:

Is it possible to use external objects of MAX in MAX for live as well? can we add them to it? for example, objects such as bonk, or the externals of the IRCAM such as supervp.play etc.. or the gabor library of the IRCAM, etc, etc, ?

Thank you :)

Yep, any 3rd party externals you use in Max can be used in MFL

ircam's gabor does not work, but everything else from ircam seems to. and other 3rd party bits and bobs. there is no exhaustive list anywhere though - early days. but as far as i can tell so far m4l is taking most things thrown at it. (it's live's limitations that are the problem!).

I have just been building my own real time pitch shifting device using ircam's gabor for use in max for live. It initially worked but has now started crashing max. I did a bit of research and came over this thread.

Can anyone assist in telling me why gabor wont work in MFL and if there are any work arounds?

failing this can are there any suggestions for a different real time pitch shifting object that will work in MFL?

many thanks,

As others said; it is possible and its also not that hard to "port" patches from Max and get them working inside M4L. In the end M4L and Max are very similar and almost identical.

The biggest changes between Max & M4L which you may want to know about can be found here.
