Feature suggestion: patcher mouse panning
Sorry, dunno where to post feature suggestions so I apologize if this is in a wrong category/place.
I have always thought panning controls are severely missing in Max. It's so common and natural to use in software with canvases such as Max. I think it's a relatively trivial feature to implement with a significant UX benefit.
I often catch myself trying to use middle click to pan because I am so used to it from many other apps.
you can add your own to a patcher window via [thispatcher]
my favorite controller beside the arrow keys is to make the window move when the mouse hits the screen borders (mostly useful when the patcher window is in fullscreen mode, because you have to know its size.)
the main difference between these techniques and anything currently built into the runtime is that you can keep dragging connections across the screen borders.
Hi Roman, thanks for the tip! I will check it out.
didnt mean to be stingy, had to find it first. ther are a dozen versions and all are project specific or imperfect.
you will find that it has a bug where it does not have boundarys at 0 0 after startup.
delete and change everything until it works for you :)
for modern max you have to include having closed-by-default sidebars, on windows you should know how to close a window (or get it into the background) before you run the TEST file. (on mac command-W)
hrm, zip no longer allowed?
thanks. strange, i cant upload anything except picture files from windows.
at least my links work now after fixing the htaccess ^^
time to go offline now.
