fingerpinger : Magic Trackpad issues

I have an issue with fingerpinger but I don't know whether it comes from the external or from MacOS.
I have two Magic Trackpads but sometimes I can't have their data coming into Max. I suspect the problem comes from MacOS (I am currently running 10.6.8) because there are also issues with the automatic detection of the devices. I must connect them manually.
Also, even if the devices are connected it doesn't ensure the data will come into Max even those having the built-in Mac Book Pro's trackpad as origin (althought fingerpinger reports it has detected 3 mulititouch devices !).
Any help would be highly appreciated.
It's a pity that having those devices connected is like throwing dices because otherwise the added value for control is really high. The Magic Trackpad is multitouh, well-calibrated, has a kind of sense of pressure and prevents from using a pen so you can react faster than with a Wacom (and you can buy a bunch of them for the price of an Intuos).

A while ago I created a standalone because of some issues with the combo fingerpinger and magic trackpad, mostly crashes or no data (after the device had gone to sleep). In my specific situation this solved these issues. You can download it ( or easily build one yourself. Since mine only works for one trackpad, maybe the latter is required.

Interesting. How do you transmit data between the standalone and Max ? With OSC ? MIDI ?

I used udp to send OSC. I set it up so that it can be remotely quit and relaunched, in the case communication when is lost.
