Floating windows 'disappear' or don't float over fullscreen windows as they do in OS X. Even putting an active flag to trigger the window to the front doesn't work. (and the active object is not really a solution in this case as it means you can't use it anywhere else in the patch)

The fullscreen message will draw over floating windows, so you need to "re-float" the window after going fullscreen to see it. Try the patch here, it's got a few things added, plus key commands and a [pcontrol] which may help get things working. I'm on XP, 5.0.7.
