Foot pedal not detected by Max; any advice?

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question. I'm borrowing an Infinity Foot Control USB-2 pedal from one of my friends because it's the only foot pedal I have access to at the moment, and would like to use it in one of my patches as a simple bang-when-pressed. I believe this pedal is meant primarily for dictation, but the hardware providers praise the multi-functionality of this pedal. Unfortunately, I've had absolutely no luck getting Max to recognize it.

I've tried [hi], [ctlin], [key], and the seemingly-relevant menu items of MIDIsetup, MIDItesting, HItesting, and keymidi, and nothing has recognized the presence of the foot pedal.

If anyone would be able to give me any insight into whether or not this is a dead end, I'd be very appreciative.
