Formula for Converting Speed Ratio to Intervals?
Given the ratio of speed for the playback of a sample, how can you convert that ratio to a musical interval? For example, given a ratio of 0.5, the sample is transposed 12 semitones(since it would have to be an octave higher if playing at half its original speed), or -12 semitones for playback ratio of 2? I feel like it has to deal with exponentials but know, unfortunately, very little of math.
