frequency detection from adc~
While I'm working on this I thought I'd throw it up here to see if I can get some info.
I'm trying to take in audio from a mic using [adc~] and analyze the sound to determine its frequency. In a perfect world, I should be able to mic a piano and hit A and get a response of 440hz (no matter if I hit the key hard or soft).
Any clues/info welcomed.
fiddle~ should be your friend .....
find it on maxobjects.com
sincerely, ms

Tristan Jehan's [pitch~] external is also extremely helpful. Again, track it down on maxobjects.com

Thanks all, ~pitch was exactly what I was looking for
how would all, whom you answered, compare pitch~ to fiddle~ as well as to vb.pitch~?
i'd be most thankful for a quality report!
thank you very much in advance!

In what is likely a similar vein, does anyone have any ideas on how to detect the absence of a frequency? I have some odd ideas I'd like to try out (eventually) revolving around the concept of being able to define zones in a composition by EQing out single frequencies in the audio.
IE, for a visualizer, you'd be able to set and EQ to drop the frequencies 142hz, 2000hz, and say 10000hz, and use the audio between zones to do different things with the visualizations. But the frequencies would be defined in the audio, so the visualizer would have to be able to discover where the frequencies have been removed.
