I'm interested by storing/retrieving values in gen~ like in a "basic" multidimensional array in codebox.

yes, there are 2 main ops for memory management, 'data' and 'buffer'.

'data' is internal and has a fixed memory size(based on arguments), whereas 'buffer' can reference a regular named msp buffer~ outside gen~ and sizes accordingly(send the gen~ patcher a 'name [name of buffer~]' message to make the proper reference, or give it a second argument name within gen... see the ref doc, i might be explaining too much :p).

read/write ops within gen~ need a 'name' argument to match the 'data' or 'buffer' object within gen~(just like in msp).

to write, there are 'poke' and 'splat' as far as i'm aware...

but to read, there are 'peek', 'index', 'nearest', 'cycle', 'sample', and 'wave'...

in a gen~ patcher, i just leave the sidebar open(bottom right button to open in a gen~ patcher), then select an object, click the reference tab in the sidebar, and check out the 'see also' section(click on objects and messages and it displays a bit how they work at the bottom). And 'code' tab can help a bit to figure out code for codebox...

(i use data quite a bit in many of these gen~ shares if you're interested, but sorry, no codebox yet(i'd use codebox more if there were more conditional/control statements like 'while' or 'for', otherwise, still feels like visual programming: except instead of 'inlets' and 'outlets', we're just using 'arguments' and 'assignments' :p):

(edit: @c74-mailinglistse-jcom / Emmanuel - in case you read this, the 'samplerate'/'SAMPLERATE' ops don't seem to switch sample rate when i change my sample rate in AudioOptions... (to test, i created the op in gen~, sent it out an outlet, observed the result in number~, switched the sample-rate in audiooptions... even tried turning audio on/off, it remains constant to the sample-rate at max startup)... i realize it's a 'constant' but it seems a bit too.. uh... constant... but maybe that's intended(perhaps for the code generation side of things?), just thought i'd mention it in case it wasn't intended)
