Gen simple sin texture wave

I'm trying to use sin function in jitter or gen to create a 3d wave effect and was wondering if there is a better way to accomplish this. Or if there is way to make the texture 'smoother'? The patch is the closest i've got, complied from a mash up of Federico Foderaro Amazing Max Tutorial.
