Generative Design Book Patches?
Hi everyone,
Has anyone tried recreating the original Processing sketches which were presented in pretty famous book "Generative Design" aka "Generative Gestaltung"?
You can find the Processing code here:
http://www.generative-gestaltung.de/code
and here: http://www.openprocessing.org/classroom/1640
And they were recreated for vvvv (you can find them here: http://vvvv.org/contribution/parasitic-design-a-vvvv-beginners-cookbook) and for TouchDesigner (here: http://www.derivative.ca/wiki088/index.php?title=Generative_Design)
I find it a bit weird that nobody is already talking about this subject on this forum. :)
So what do you think? Will we see it in the near future? Or is it already here somewhere or on the net?
All the best,
ygr
I am using the book as a text for a course I'm teaching and started translating the sketches into Max, along with Dan Shiffman's Nature of Code.
As I've only just started this, three's not much to share, but I'll be sure to post when there's more.
This is such a good book! I am working on a porting library that allows me to take processing scripts, convert them to javascript, and run them in max. It uses mgraphics as its main drawing interface.
See https://github.com/dan-reid/Generative-Design-Max-MSP
Would love to see them ported to Max NOT through mgraphics though.
Looks like Hearing Glass | Umut Eldem is doing a series converting select Generative Design patches to Jitter.
