Getting clicks when recording my patches...any advice?

Hi there,

I am simply trying to record my MSP patch while it's running in real-time, and I'm fiddling with controls.

Problem is, I keep getting the occasional click. There aren't many, but they're there.

Initially I tried recording using the 'What-U-Hear' type feature in my internal soundcard (running a Dell Laptop), and recording into Adobe Audition. This was pretty bad in terms of clicks (using directsound driver in MSP). I can't record using my Echo Indigo io (as far as I can tell), as it doesn't have a What-U-Hear function.

So I then tried recording it within Max, again using the What-U-Hear function, and plugging an adc~ into a record~ with a large buffer~. There were noticably less clicks, but they were still there.

How do other people do this? Am I missing something?

I had a brief play with io vector size in the DSP state window, but this didn't seem to help too much. My patch does not have these clicks during play-back (only in the recordings).

Cheers!!
Ivan

have you tried using sfrecord~?

someone with more experience might be able to explain why recording to
disk seems to be more stable than using a buffer~...

but I've had good luck using sfrecord~
