Getting live audio over internet

I'd like to be able to record audio from a microphone over the internet,
i.e. A user visits a website, they record something using their microphone, I can then process it using Max on a server. This does not need to be real time.
Of course, there are going to be some quality issues and maybe it would be easier to allow the user to just upload a file. I only really need the web interface for simplicity. Perhaps this is possible in Flash or something similar?

But beware, its demanding, because it has to compress and decode the signals in real time.
