Getting the colour code from an object's attribute from the inspector
I can't remember which version of Max that this changed ( perhaps from 6 onwards ), but you used to be able to drag the colour attribute from the inspector of an object and drop it in to your patch as a message box. This allowed you to easily get the full colour code from one object, and use it in the messaging system within your patch itself.
Since the introduction of this "attrui" object, I can't do this any more - as the attrui object doesn't allow you to intercept the colour from its path to the object it's changing the colour of.
Is there any way to get the FULL colour code of an object's attribute? At the moment I have to resort to copy/pasting each colour separately which is extremely time consuming.
Does anyone know a way around this? Or is it impossible since the introduction of the attrui object?
hold down the option key while dragging.
Ah thanks Rob! Actually I'm a doofus - I was dragging the colour itself - you need to drag and drop the attribute tag from the inspector into the patcher and it gives you the option to create a message box there.
Long time ago, but I do not get that option, Chris. I'm on Max8 now.
