I would use one of these huge water bottles they serve water with in big
companies. They sound realy great... It even doesn't need Max/MSP and
would also work in Goa on the beach when the power is down... ;-)

No, not at all, you get an answer (almost) always, no matter how stupid
the question is.
There are actually no stupid questions, but a lot of incomplete ones...
(Might be a good idea to search the archives for unanswered questions,
to learn how not to ask... ;-)

Making something sound "psychedelic" is difficult unless you have a
clear idea in your head of what that is, specifically. I would imagine
that ways of slowly changing and evolving the sound over time would be a
good start. Another thing to imagine is ways of changing multiple
aspects of the sound simultaneously, such as oscillator frequency,
modulation amount, filter frequency, etc. You will want to choose some
basic synthesis technique to start with (FM is popular) and go from there.
Good luck,
Andrew B.
creating those kinds of rhythms is easy - always on the grid, always duple everything. check out seq~ and rate~ driven by a phasor~. rate~ will easily give you your Goa snare climaxes.
as for the synth/lead/bass stuff, try techno~ which can be pretty powerful, especially if you dont use the included jsui which is kinda tough to use.
other than that, any synth using lots of rect~ saw~ or tri~ oscillators and do your filter sweeps with a biquad~
max could be a good way to make this kind of music because unlike logic, you will be more free and not always know your self what to expect. then again, there are so many commercial apps totally built around approaching a genre like this (Reason is the best imo) that you should try to avoid simply rewriting those.
hope that helps, have a good trip man
Kevin,
thank you for the suggestions. I have known some of them already. The techno~ is quite a nice object, I like to work with visual adjusters, like the jsui. But I will have to sort out how to get the messages in it, without the nice panel.
biquad~ sounds good, I am just about to add different sounds to it.
. trip is on the way .

tip: mix syntetic sounds with fieldrecordings
ohh yes,
... some nights ago, I was thinking about to record my un-greased chain on my bike. It was a silent night in the city...
thx
