graphics in Max
graphics in Max
hi ive made a program for my uni degree in max its basically like an MPC
16 samplers with lots of midi functions and so on
the problem is that i every time i load up the max file some of the graphics disappear?! i then proceed to paste them in again and then save , the next day i load the program up other pictures have disappeared
the images were imported using the past picture function and are mainly things like background images
the picture files haven't been tampered with or moved.
im using a intel MAC
any help would be great
hi,
try to bring them to front. (Object Menu) and save the patch.
or from the patch remotely
1. give a name to the object holding the pic
2. make a thispatcher on the same patching level (not in a subpatch)
3. give the msg script bringtofront [name] into thispatcher
cheers

have you tried ;max refresh ??
i would bring them to the front but the problem is that they are back ground pics and there not in an object there just pasted in(edit>past picture)
the images in objects like buttons and knobs are fine
whats the ;max refresh ?
thanks
ill try and get some screen shots up soon
-you can still give them a name the object is called vpicture. Select
it in unlocked mode and select (Object>name).
-;max refresh is a message to max just type it into a messagebox and
bang it

I hope I understand what you are after. When you paste a picture it is in
fact an object and can be named. Once named you can use scripting to send
messages to it. Here are some examples...

Funny, I made this MPC sampler some time ago:

It's getting a little outdated though, my current version is much better but not complete enough to release.

no sorry guys the sending the pic to the back or front still doesn't do the trick altho thanks gary for the advise i did learn some stuff from you quick patch
and the ;max refresh didn't work too :-(
i was thinking of re pasting in the graphics again but this time naming them and using the include in background option
i dont know if it will work but its worth a shot , maybe this time max will remember the graphics are there
ps mattijs i actually studied your MPC patch at the start of the academic year, its not to bad but wait until you hear what this thing can do :-P
heres a few pics
lol its got worse every time i save the patch and reload it all the patch cords are all over the place and connected to random objects
ive reinstaled Max but it still has the same problem !

Well, I could give you a big list of what -is- bad about it ;)

Looks like you've put quite some in it, which is a good thing :) The mpc has some inspiring limitations. I am still working on my next version (although I don't really have any time for it). Let me know when your patch is finished, I'd like to see it.
Cheers,
Mattijs

It must be somehow corrupted, try to copy parts of it to new patchers
and save those...
