Grid settings in max 5
hello,
did a search, didnt find anything related. apologies if this has been discussed before.
So, the grid in max 5 is great. Unfortunately, i opened my main max project in max 5 the day version 5 came out Its a pretty big patch with lots and lots of subpatches. The Max 5 default settings for the Grid are something like 14x14, so for now on all of the subpatchers in this project default to a 14x14 grid even though i have changed my default grid for new patches to 4x4 in prefs.
Now for every subpatch in this patch it still defaults to 14x14, which doesnt suit my workflow too well. so for every subpatch i have to go into the inspector and change the grid to 4x4.....
Does anyone know a way that i can set the patch up so that all the supatches will have a 4x4 grid ( or any grid that i choose ) possibly i could send some kind of message recursively to all subpatches that would change the grid to one that i choose? Maybe there is something in the tutorials? If so could someone please point me in the right direction

can you not just set the grid size in the patcher inspector?
view > patcher inspector > grid size.

You might want to open the Preferences Window
and look for the word "Grid size", in addition
to the Patcher Inspector.
Thanks for the responses. Yes, im aware of the patch inspector and the grid size in preferences. Again, the grid size in prefs is only for new patchers so if i have a patch that someone sends me, one that i opened before i set grid to my iking, or something like a max help file which are not new, they will default to 15x15 grid size as that is the default size that ships with Max 5.
possibly the preference could be changed to "grid size for open patchers" and not just for new patchers?
Also, the patch inspector works for that patch ( thispatcher ) and not subpatches, so for my big sequencer patch i have to open every subpatch and change the grid size, kind of annoying, but i guess i can live with it...
karrrlo - thanks for the patch, again this only woks on the toplevel patch and doesnt send grid messages to the sub patches. ill look into geting something that i can send these grid messages to subpatchers, maybe pcontrol?
