Guitar To Midi Conversion, Problems Connecting Midi Information to the VST objec
Hi
i am currently working on a patch as a project after learning max msp for about a year.
The idea is to convert my guitar, using sigmund, to midi information. i have the data from sigmund mapping to a kslider (just to check the right information is coming through)but my issue is taking that midi information (note, velocity, pitch etc ) and patching into a vst, such as kontakt, to play the information.
Looking at the VST object screen it appears that midi events can be sent through the left most outlet, but i am stuck on how to convert the midi from the kslider, to the correct midi event, if this is even possible in such way.
Already Suggested have been that i could send the midi information to logic, to speed up the process of bulding it, and also that the vst object can only be used for effects and not instruments but this seems strange ?
Thanks For Any Help, i was recomended to try posting it on here.
NOTE : The vst instrument doesnt have to be kontakt, my plan is to build an orchestra from the vst's, or simply one vst with adjustable parameters.
Hi,
There are ways of separating the MIDI values from the data stream, check out the [stripnote] object. It highly depends on the configuration you have so it could be worthwhile posting the patch on here.

Hi, thanks for that, ill give it a try today and see what happens with it, in what way do you meen it depends on the configuration though ? ill clean the patch up and post it on here later today, or tommorow morning as i have some other work to finish today.
Thank You
Joe
Managed to get that working now,and i have attacthed the patch here ( although not very interesting ) it works :D
the next stage is to get sigmund working now, which i have a few versions of working patches for now, but ill keep this updated.
Hi, there is already a VST plugin guitar-to-midi available on bitscrew.com
It's also friendly with bass-guitar, voice and it is realtime. I use it to record MIDI tracks, cause I can't play keys well.
