HD Camera Capture to Jitter on MacBook Pro VIA Matrox MX02 Mini with ExpressCard

Hi,
I just received my Matrox MX02 Mini with ExpressCard.
I purchased it for capturing video from an HDMI output of a Panasonic HD camera.
I have it working with Premiere Pro CS 6.
I can't get it to show up in MAX/MSP/Jitter as a video source.

There are a number of posts in this forum that seem to say that this works. Does anyone presently reading this have success doing this?
I can't seem to make it work.
All answers are very much appreciated, I'm trying to get this working for a January installation.

Thanks
Robert

NOTE: The workflow I'm trying to set up is HD CAMERA -> Matrox MX02 -> ExPressCard -> MacBook w/Jitter.
Most posts here turn out to be working with the setup MacBook w/Jitter -> Matrox MX02.

Again, thanks for any help.

Robert

Small step along the way to an answer. I'm now optimistic.

I couldn't find the Matrox as an entry in the JitterTest Extra drop-down menu. This is the same list that would show up in the "getinputlist" function for jit.qt.grab. So: where is the list created?

I closed Jitter and opened the Quicktime Player v 10.2. I selected "New Movie Recording", and opened the drop-down input menu. OK, I saw audio inputs, and the internal MacBook camera... but no Matrox. So before jit.qt.grab can't see it... Quicktime can't see it.

In the dark recesses of my tiny mind I remember a reference from somewhere in Cycling 74 documentation or forums that some Quicktime functions wouldn't work without Quicktime Pro... which stopped with QT v7. I happened to have it, because I've been dragging chains through this area for a while now...

So I reboot, load QT Pro 7, and try it's version of Quicktime Player. HEY! The Matrox video shows up. Unbelievably, however, my camera, which has been running on my 8-hour battery throughout the previous day's experimentation, takes this very moment to run out of power, and blink off. Well, of course. My second battery is also dead. My battery charger... at work, and I can't get to it until Monday. OK, fine. So that's where I am right now. I think I can maybe get it to work.

Also: Thanks Vade, for your kind offer to help. Since I know what to try next, I'm good for now. More Monday night...

A final report.
I have the system working.
MacBook Pro, 17-inch, Mid 2009
2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8 GB memory
OS X 10.8.2
Matrox MX02 Mini
Expresscard
Camera: Panasonic AG-HMC40P
Usning HDMI HDMI cable between camera and MXO2, then Expresscard cable to MacBook.
Running MAX 6.0.7

My problem was that I need a good quality HD input. I have this working at 1280 X 720P, will also work at 1920 X 1080P.
There are a lot of complaints about not being able to use a live HD input with a Mac, this provides that.

At this moment, Matrox provides a number of drivers for a MAC OS X and the MX02. Matrox leaves the older drivers up on its site.
I had trouble with the most recent Matrox driver for MAC Mountain Lion. However this one works: 2.6.0.0023.
I use it with the current Quicktime 10.2.1, NOT QT Pro 7.

Plug in the Matrox via the Express card with BOTH the Matrox and the MacPro turned off.

Use jit.qt.grab. Load the device list, then the input list, following the standard setup for jit.qt.grab. The Matrox will show up in both the device list and the input list.

That will do it. I hope this is helpful. If you need live HD input to a MacBook Pro with an Expresscard slot, this should work for you.

thanks much for the report!

how is the performance? is there a lot of latency?

btw, i would recommend updating to 6.0.8, as there's a bug in 6.0.7 related to opengl (perhaps as a separate installation, just to be safe).
