Help creating seamless loops with groove
Hi there,
I am building a microtonal sampler, and I need to create infinite sustains convincingly from samples.
I have tried applying a trapezoidal wave as an amplitude envelope. This gets rid of clicks, but one can still easily hear the beginning and ending of each cycle, even with loop interpolation turned on.
What I'd like to do is create a longish crossfade. I have had the idea of possibly triggering a second loop at a fixed point in the first loops' cycle, which then, after finishing playback, triggers the first again.
The sound I am using is the sustain phase of a cymbal. I need to make it sound like a continuous drone. Any ideas?
A few options - I often double up my playback objects (in your case groove) and crossfade between them, making sure that the fades happen so that the loop points of either groove is audible. Also - I often use the triangle object as a micro envelope. I then amp it up by maybe 5, 6, 7 then clip is from 0 to 1. You can even link the amplitude amount to the loop length, so the slow loops get very tight enveloping, and fast loops get more gentle fades.
Thank you!
