Hide Toolbar in Max7 by default

Ho can I hide the toolbar by default (equivalent to cmd 8)?
Every time I open the patcher the toolbar is visible again.

Can anybody help? How do I hide the Max 7 patcher toolbar by default? At least when the patcher is locked.

Can you use [thispatcher] in a similar way to Max 6?

I also dislike the toolbox, but it's nice that it can be totally hidden, freeing up lotsa space for patching.
To make it your default, create a new patcher window, hide the toolboxes (and set up everything else as you like it in the patcher inspector), then save it as a template. In your preferences you can select that template to be your default for new patcher windows.
There's a setting for subpatcher default as well which I suppose you'd have to do after all that (since that default template is created by that process) and then resave the patcher as that template.
Hope this all makes sense, i'm not at my computer right now :)

This is probably resolved for you, but found if you want it to be for just one specific patcher on open, you can decide using the attribute in the patcher's inspector window called "Show Toolbar on Open"

So if you have toolbars turned off but you want them on one specific new patcher, you have to create the new patcher, change the pinned attributes, save the patcher (even if you only wanted a temp patcher), close and open it again to make the toolbars stick?

That's absurd --- there has to be a better way

Edit: one has to go back to the Max preferences and change the default patcher template and THEN create a new patcher???? How can there not just be a "Show/hide" toolbars for a currently open patcher?

I found a way to hide the toolbar when you open a patch in max 7: send "toolbarvisible 0" message to [thispatcher] and reopen the patcher, is the equivalent to uncheck "Show toolbar on open" in the patcher inspector.

Still looking for a way to show/hide toolbars without opening the patcher (as cmd+4 does in max7)

1. Create an empty patcher

2. Go to Patcher Inspector - Uncheck Show Toolbar on Open

3. Save the patcher as a template by going to File - Create Template...

4. Name the template and check the Default for New Patchers checkbox.

5. Done.

If you want to make a new patcher with toolbars, then go to File - New From Template... - Default Max 7.

The method suggested by Jaewon works only for new patches, it won't hide sidebars everywhere. There is no way to control sidebar visibility from the configuration settings, so the only way to go in Max 7 is to use cmd-8. I use it almost for every patcher window. But I do little patching lately, can't really work in 7 more than 2–3 hours due to UI lags.
