hovering over inlets/outlets sometimes shows info, sometimes not

I can assume this is a bug within max but has anyone found a suitable sequence of actions which brings the hovering to display info again?? It's arguably an essential part of programming with Max so it's pretty annoying to have to reopen my patches every time this turns off.

not talking about probes. I mean just that when you hover an outlet, like say I am hovering the first outlet of jit.gl.videoplane, a little bubble comes up saying "jit.gl.videoplane: matrix output if enabled" and the second output will say "jit.gl.videoplane: dumpout"

Sometimes this info will come up from inlets and outlets, sometimes nothing will come up.

Does no one know the solution to this or is it just a bug in Max? I can't be the only person with this issue, right?
Or does anyone have a sequence of events that makes the functionality come back? It seems almost random, and closing and reopening only works sometimes.

would it be because some objects are subpatches (abstractions) or externals? if so then this functionality needs to be manually created by the person who built the object

no just with all regular objects.

send a message to support. might be worth taking a screen recording of the behavior.
