how can I name midi clip with detonate ?
Hello All !
I make midifile by script thanks to detonate.
when exporting, I can give my midifle a name.
But when I put this same midifile in my live session, the clip is always named "track 0"...
How could I change that ?
Thanks in advance !!
Fratzen
This happens because Live uses the track names when importing a midi file. I don't think the track name can be changed in detonate. But you could rename the clip in Live (cmd-R) and export it as midi file. Thereby the track name will become the same as the file name. However, Live only exports single-track midi files (format 0).
thanks for your answer Broc (love your name)!
is it because detonate gives midi file with format 1 ?
I can't use rename manually for some reasons...(about one thousand clips for real time performances where names are really important...
It's a shame that live won't named clips by the file name...would it be some escape from this issue ??
Detonate by default gives format 0 files. But the point is that Live can also import format 1 midi files, where the different tracks from the file are stored as clips on different Live tracks. So it makes sense in Live to use the track names for identifying the clips. I think Live handles format 0 files just like format 1 containing a single track.
I don't know detonate very well.
I had this naming trouble inside Live too and found a solution with an app called 'MidiKit' (that is on OS X). It lets you edit [every?] detail in your midi track, also change between type0 and type1.
If there are other entrances leading inside the midi-data-editing-hall I would love to know ...
thanks a lot CTRLZJONES, I'll check this out !
(beside I'm on PC, maybe it does exist kind of this software on pc)
