I know I can just send a big black square (to back) but is there a way of changing the actual patchin window background on lock or something ?

Just open the Patcher Inspector and set the Background Color to whatever you need.

Max Patch
Copy patch and select New From Clipboard in Max.

You can also do it programmatically

All the themes have a defined background color in UNlocked mode and thus defining the cable thicknes
What I basically want is to change the background color while in unlocked mode
Bgcolor only does that for locked mode
Try to change the color of this background while in Unlocked mode (dark-lazarute them )

To know the actual name of an attribute, either drag it into the patch so that it will create an [attrui] with the correct name, or click the @ you can see at the bottom of the inspector panel.
