how many channels in buffer~?

    Hi-
    This is a a question that I think leads to a feature request. Is there a programmatic way to know how many channels are in a buffer~? I would think that info~ would be the right answer, but it doesn't do that.
    I have a sample player where users are switching between different buffers. I would like it do use one groove~, and be suave about whether the sample is mono or stereo. Any ideas?
    If not, could info~ please report the number of channels?

      The [sfinfo~] object reports the number of channels, that might be of some use to you.

      [mxj buf.Op] will give you the number of channels (with the getChannels message).
      I never understood why [info~] don't return this information, nor why there is no mention of [mxj buf.Op] in info~.maxhelp.

      Thanks for that. Features that mxj adds are poorly exposed in general, I think.
