How popular is Max4Live in the Ableton community?

I get the impression that it's going to take some years before a majority of the Ableton Live community decides to take part in Max. I manage a Ableton Live social group online and anecdotally, I don't notice much participation on Max topics. Additionally when I meet people who use Live, many times the buck stops there. Personally I had hoped that Max4Live would bring in more Max users. I'm sure that's happened somewhat but it doesn't seem as embraced as I had hoped.

Personally for me, Live convinced me to get a full copy of Max. The use of both pieces of software balances out the multiple creative approaches I want to practice.

first of all, I think you ought to ask this question over on the ableton forum instead :) You're preaching to the converted here!

I'm certain it's done an enormous lot for the max crowd. And the fact that you don't see the max users in your user group might just mean that the type of people who join user groups might not be the ones who get deep into max?

I think the slow change here starts with people *using* max for live devices. This has already been embraced, I think. And then slowly more and more people trickle over to the dark side.

I, for one, didn't realize what I was missing until Live 9 Suite included M4L.
