How to choose a param to modulate such as in the LFO patch that comes with m4l?

In Max for Live Essentials there's an LFO max patch which has a "Map" button. When you click the Map button it puts blue highlights over other parameters in other devices in the set that you can modulate with the LFO.

When you click one of these parameters, it sets up the mapping. I've tried opening up the LFO max patch to see how it works but it seems like its internals are hidden somehow.

The LFO 2.0 object here: http://www.roberthenke.com/technology/lfo.html also has a map button that does the same thing, but I also don't see how to deconstruct the patch to see how it works. Unfreezing and unlocking it doesn't make it reveal its guts? Are these patches protected somehow or am I just not opening them up the right way?

How would you go about making a device parameter map button like in the LFO object?

Thanks!

Sometimes you also have to unfreeze the device to be able to switch to edit mode. And don't forget you can look inside the bpatchers by right clicking on it the choose object > new view of... And don't forget to check the tutorials.

Thanks for your help. Here's a screenshot of what I get when I unfreeze and unlock and new view the map button in the LFO device that comes with the m4l essentials pack. I can't figure out where the logic or patching cords are that makes it work. I've gone through the tutorials but I haven't seen where this kind of setup is described where there are no patch cords.

It kind of looks like in flash where a clip can have actionscript embedded into it and you can click inside to see its code. Is there something else I need to do to see the cords or does this device somehow not use cords?
