Hi,

Is t possible to have a floating Inspector Window ? and how ?

Pretty sure this is possible. I think there's an "Inspection Window" option in the "View" menu.

Inspector window can not be set to floating
(floating in max means to stay in front)
and can't be bound to specific object.
as soon as you click on different object, it focuses on it,
and goes to background as well.
exiting edit mode also removes it's link to last inspected object
and focuses on frontmost patcher window.

if you would repeatedly send key shortcut to open it,
it could keep it in front, but would that make any sense ?
If you wish to have something like floating inspector for specific object in a
patch, that can of course be done, by making subpatch with all needed attributes to control, an open it as floating window,
also forcing it to stay in front, no matter what one clicks at in max.

the inspector opens as extra window when you use command-shift-alt instead of command-shift.

i could not do without that option! the in-patcher inspector is terrible, because i like to patch in fullscreenmode.

(though it does not work with 3 or 4 certain objects and situations, you will notice when it happens)

"as soon as you click on different object, it focuses on it, and goes to background as well."

the idea of the window inspector is that you don´t have to close it when switching between different selections. one window with dynamic content vs. one window per object instance.

in max 4 i run a bunch of customized inspectors which support presets, drag´n drop and and copy/paste and it is a dream to work with floating mode there.
in max 7/8 it is still very nice to work with it; you can at least move it onto another monitor, like you would do it with a photoshop palette or DAW cursor toolbox.

why it is no longer a floating window as it was in the past, no idea. (probably fixed size/scrollbar issue). i would prefer it, but lastly it does not make a big difference.
