How to install fftw3.dll
Hey!
I am using the analyzer~ external, and when making a windows version of my patch it requires fftw3.dll. How do I install this? It does not seem to work by putting the file in the external or patch folder...
Do I really need to install a C-compiler ++ to install this thing?
Have you tried putting the dll in your windows/system32/ folder?
Ah.. it should pe put in the Max/MSP folder... windows/system32/ did not do anything...
Hi, this issue may be more related to fftw than Max, but I'm hoping it's relevant:
I downloaded the precompiled fftw 3.2.2 dlls from fftw.org but I can't find anywhere to download a file called fftw3.dll exactly. I've got libfftw3-3.dll and a couple other dll's, and I placed those in my 'Max 5.0' and 'Max 5.0support' directories. When I make an analyzer~, though, I'm still getting errors saying fftw3.dll is not found, so I think the other dlls must not be sufficient.
Any ideas? Thanks!
I downloaded older version fftw 3.01, it works
I am having a similar problem. I have a Pitch~ external object but it won't work because the fftw3.dll is in the wrong place.
Any suggestions?
this solved the problem for me:
found fftw-3.0.1-w32.zip on google, extracted fftw3.dll in the Max folder.
Hi all - did this work for people working on Windows 7 / 64 bit?
(sorry if these are dumb questions... i'm normally an OSX user)
And should / would this work?

I've not been able to get Paul's external dll bundle to work with either with Max 5 or Max 6 on Windows 7 64 bit ;)
Any ideas?
I got a different external to work by putting this file
in my Max folder (win 7 64-bit). That, and the actual external file went in .../Cycling '74/msp-externals (being that is was an MSP object).
good timing for this thread. was trying to get Shifter~ working yesterday in Max 6. I installed the fftw3.dll from Tristan Jehan's website and installed it in my main Cycling '74 folder and it would work in Max 5 but not Max 6.
just tried TO_THE_SUN's .dll and all is working well now in Max 6. yay!
Hi:
For W7 64 bit copy in sysWOW64 the fftw3.dll file.
Regards.
Paste in sysWOW64 for w7 64 bits .
