How to make sure Max 7 won't reopen the patches from last session ?

Hey guys,
This is becoming really annoying : each time i open Max, the patches that were opened when i had last used Max and quitted everything are reopened again automatically upon launch. The option 'Close windows when closing an app' is set in my OSX, i'm using Yosemite, and i just tried to delete my max 7 prefs folder (~/Library/Application Support/Cycling '74/Max 7) to no avail. I was told this should be solved if i did first wquit max, then delete preferences, then unset the option in osx, then do a voodoo incantation, then reboot, then reset the option in osx, then reboot again (or needed i open max first ?) then reboot and... or something like this
but it didn't work.

Close your patch before quitting max seems a lot easier.

but what if i had millions of patches opened ? Then by the time i closed them all, my "W" key would be broken !
and for the record, that's what i am used to do, just today i decided to complain/try to get help

on a mac: Hold down alt key while click the close icon top left of your patch will close all open patches

Most of my decent apps have the ability to set a preference for what happens the next time they open:

1) do nothing
2) open last project
3) prompt to create project

Don't put the onus on the user to make sure everything got closed....and by the way, that automatic reopening is a friggin' disaster in the case where Max closed because of a crash.

there is a Max preference called "Restore Windows on Launch".
just uncheck it.

Is that new in Max 7? I’ver never noticed it in Max 5 or Max 6
