Inlets/outlets in Abstractions vs. Encapsulations

Hello all,

I'm rather new to Max, and have a quick question:

I have created a subpatch which works fine. I would like to make it into an abstraction. When I do so -- saving it as its own maxpat in the 'examples' folder within Max -- the inlets and outlets no longer work. As in, they are no longer numbered, and the abstraction does not receive any messages sent to its inlets.

I'm certain this is the problem as, for testing purposes, I've simplified the patch to the point where all it does is set a message with prepend set. Works fine as a subpatch. Does not work as an abstraction.

I am certain this is something ever so simple that I've simply overlooked. I appreciate any guidance you can provide.

Thank you,
-A

Can you post an example of the subpatch?

Thank you, BKShepard, for your quick reply. Of course it just started working again, though I haven't changed a thing -- rather confusing. :) I think it may have something to do with the read-only status of the abstraction. If I recall correctly, the problem occurred after I tried to modify the abstraction by clicking on the read-only icon, rather than opening it as a separate patch.

I will see if it continues to be stable...if not, I will return and post the subpatch. Thank you again for your quick reply.

Best,
-A
