Internal and External audio In Max

Hi Guys,

Basically I'm building a gestural controlled dj system in max using a kinect and i have come across a problem that i hope someone will be able to resolve!

Is there a way in which i can use both the internal speakers of my iMac and also play audio through the Line-out. I want to be able to play the audio through the internal system as well as be able to monitor the mix through headphones. (without the need for an external sound card)

After trawling the forum for a few hours i found a similar question asked, with the following response,

If your audio interface supports more than 2 outputs and will let you route 2 of them to headphones (most do) then you could just use a [dac~ 1 2 ] as your main outputs and a [dac~ 3 4] as your headphone outs. If your using your inbuilt computer soundcard out, then no. Preview sounds on outputs 3 & 4 and when when you want to, just turn up its gain into outputs 1 & 2. This is exactly what you would be doing on a mixer/dj mixer btw.
