Hi

I want to replace a button with a metro and maintain the connections.

If this is not possible, this is a feature request for max5!!

Thanks for your time !

You can replace an object with all its connections intact.
But you can only replace it with another object with the same
number of inlet/outlets. To do so, select the new object and
copy it (Edit->Copy), then select the target object and
then Edit->Paste Replace.

But...my problem was : I have some 200 cycles~ connected to a gain~
object, but as you know, the gain~ automatically gets a picture, so there is no place to write the name of the new object.

what to do?

You don't need to "write the name of the new object."

Just create an instance of the new object you want. Anywhere. Copy or Cut it to the clipboard. Select the object[s] you want to replace. Paste-Replace from the Edit menu. All done.

No offense, but in the time this thread has been hanging around the list you surely could have found the section in the friendly Ref Man and tried it out a couple of times?
