Is live.remote / Ableton Live automation update rate the issue and can it be worked around?

Hello there. I've made it this far without needing to do much work in Max itself, but here we are. I have noticed very fast envelope automation is more reliable when using, say, CV Instrument's envelope's CV out compared to, say, automating CV utility to CV out or mapping CV Instrument's envelope to CV utility to CV out.

Doing tests, it seems live's automation and perhaps the live.remote update rate is tied to the audio sampling rate but not the audio buffer size. That being said it also seems to be a multiple of the audio sampling rate - not nearly as fast as the audio sample rate - it seems to be maybe 64 times the audio sampling rate.

I was just wondering if anyone knew if we can somehow improve Live Device parameter response to fast envelope control / automation. I get the feeling that we're pretty much stuck with it being that multiple of audio sampling rate as long as the method is automation/control of a Live Device parameter. Which means maybe we can get around it but it would mean like combining the controlling and the controlled devices together into a single max device so live.remote doesn't need to be used...

I just tried changing the smoothing attribute of live.remote in CV Instrument from 1 ms to 0.1 ms and it may have helped. Hard to tell at this time.
