Is there a way to remove toolbars from top and sides of a Max7 patcher?

I work on a small screen and would like to free up more space for patching.

The procedure for hiding (unpinning) the toolbars is listed in every single one of the guides for the toolbars themselves - just type "left patcher window toolbar" (for example) into the search panel in a patcher window and read the guide you'll be directed to.

I would like to ban toolbars from all my patcher windows forever to save screen real estate. To achieve that I created a "new patcher template" without any toolbars. When I create a new patcher that works fine but whenever I use the "encapsulate"-function then the new patcher window has all the toolbars. I then try to get rid of them by unpinning them and in the patcher-inspector-window the setting for "Pin ... Toolbar on Open" is "last saved" like the default.

But when I save the patch and open it again all "encapsulated" patcher windows have all the toolbars again.

Does anybody have a solution for that? It is really annoying because when I unpin the toolbars manually each time the windows are smaller than I saved them and I have to resize all of them manually each time - that is so wasted time and energy :(

Thanks for any help

did you set your template as the default template ?

Hi Vichug,

thank you for your answer.

yes, I did set it as default template, therefore it worked for all the patchers that were created with "New Patcher..." Only subpatchers ("p xyz") and patcher windows that are created using the "Encapsulate"-Feature were the problem. They didn't seem to use the default template.

But in the meantime I found out that this was fixed in Max 7.0.5. I was still on 7.0.4 before... /\ I should have looked for an update first, I guess...

thanks again - and all the best

I'm running Max 7.0.6

I would like for all my pre-Max7 externals/abstractions/etc. to *not* have pinned toolbars on them by default without me going into each one and changing them individually. How do we fix that?

I set my default template to have unpinned toolbars already, still have toolbars on the older things.

Cheers,
Nick
