jit.desktop GPU

is there a chance we see a GPU version of jit.desktop soon? I saw a post from 1 year ago where Vade suggest something like this. It would be really great. I've been working on a project using jit.desktop but it is using so much CPU.

That would be great, jit.desktop has so much flexibility, but it really eats up horsepower compared to the dedicated apps like Camtasia or TipCam. Combine the output with jit.vcr and you'd have a great way to do screencasts.

one more question on this topic: if I have to "read"a area like 1024x768 it would be less expensive to divide it in 4 areas using 4 instances of a jit.desktop or use only one instance of it? could be that with 4 instances I could distribute better in a multi-cored CPU?
Some other clues on how to optimize a read with such a area?

You can use the new Syphon Screencap program + jit.gl.syphonclient to get GPU accelerated desktop capture. Right now the screencap is working, but is source only. You can get it on the Syphon SVN @ http://code.google.com/p/syphon-implementations

great. Actually I was trying myself to make a composition in QC using both your Screen capture composition and the syphon server. But it was not so successful. Cool that you have made this program now. I was looking forward for such a thing since a long time. thanx!!

Sounds great,
unfortunately my coding is too bad to make it work

is there someone who has made already an simple app to capture the screen with the option to set the coordinates of your screen.
And to grab it with jit.gl.syphonclient into Max.

thanks in advance

If you can wait a bit, we will have a finalized version to release as a download.
