jit.gen.particles example - ERROR

Running this example on WinXP SP3 is OK (500,000 particle at 11fps on my laptop - not bad). But on my Win7-64 it does not work. Gives multiple errors that look like that:

gen_domain: jit.gen: [string "gen1.jit"]:36: attempt to index global 'domain' (a nil value)
jit_gen: Gen patcher not compiled

This is in MAX 50567

Hm... jit.pix.kaleido shows the same behavior.

jit.gen and jit.pix and jit.gl.pix Help patches seem OK.

This is running NVIDIA Quadro FX 4600 and two monitors, if this is relevant.

By the way, how can I see if Gen is properly authorized?

Thanks.

Hi, thanks for the report. This sounds really odd since it works on one windows version and not the other. I'll try and follow up with someone who has a similar machine and get back to you.

ok, so we tried on a w7-64 machine and aren't seeing this problem. If you don't mind, the best way to resolve this is to contact support:

thanks!

Shall do, thanks for checking.

Just returned to my laptop, authorized MAX from the demo version I was trying with before and am getting the same errors. So, my guess is that Gen is not authorized (hence the question above on how to check). This license is a free upgrade from a recently purchased MAX 5 so I am guessing Gen is not included? Would be good to have a clear warning about this then...

Gen is a separate add-on purchase to Max 6, so it would not be included in your Max 6 free upgrade.

If you authorized Max 6 with a serial number that does not have the Gen add-on, you should be able to use Gen patchers, but not create them.

However, it appears that there are some issues with some Jitter Gen examples if you are not authorized for Gen. We will be looking into this.

Thanks for your patience!
