jit.lcd drawing layer on top of video

I'm trying to sample the pixels from a live video and then draw on top of the video using jit.lcd.

I am able to do this using the lcd object (see first patch below, this is the effect that I what to achieve), but I then want to send it to a jit.pwindow and it seems that a jit.lcd is needed do this.

I am having problems combining the jit.lcd with the live video feed. The second patch below is the closest I have got so far.

Anyone have any tricks to combine the jit.lcd with the jit.qt.grab so the drawing seems to be on the layer above?

I went through jitter tutorial 29, about the alpha channel, but it's a bit of a mess (patch 3 below).

you can directly composite jit.lcd over another matrix using jit.alphablend.
