Jitter Harmonograph?
I have been doing some research in Harmonographs
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmonograph
There is a cool demo here...

Does anyone knows of a jitter version of this?
Here's something to start with...

Philip K. Dick
make sure you save it first, then open it again.
ISTR John Whitney, Sr. includes sample code in his book Digital Harmony, in
basic, for making epicycloids or hypocycloids.

Gorgeous!
I used erase_color 0. 0. 0. 0.001 for a black background and lots of fading trails as the shape moves around. Totally hypnotic!
would there be anyway to make this sound reactive?
i have started to mess with sound reaction in jitter a lot now, but this one is stumping me. because when i do try it just resets the harmnograph, rather than being effected personally by the audio
cheers...
actually just answered my own question. just fixed it with some [sfplay~]. but will fit it to my machinedrum through the motu and ableton, should be nice.
will say how i get on...
fantastic, got the little bugger in my own field now.
right, after some messing around and all that jazz. i have completely tore the patch apart, it is no longer the patch that it once was (how poetic).
but now i have linked it to ableton suite 8, the machine drum sps 1-uw and the monome, lovely.
all going through soundflower to the harmonograph, linked musically, so every time a certain peak comes, it changes the scale, shape, color etc.
still messing with routing a bit more, so i can link up separate audio sources to different points of the harmonograph, it is working just not properly finished.
plus as well, every now and again, the I/O vector and sample rate just seems to die a slow death.
it starts off you can hear some sample rate moving, then it just goes completely nuts and loses the signal, although still playing just crunches and crunches on.
anyhow, plan to usae this video for a live gig i am planning, just a small gig to get myself back in action of playing live, but would really love having video, you know. have the audience looking at something. even if it may be a continuos line changing shape every now and again.
will post some pictures, video and audio when i do the gig. but wont be for a few weeks. still need to write the music ...
hi!!
I would like what the lines of the harmonograph will reaction with the audio, its movements, is it possible?
Sorry for my english..
