Jitter is choking Live
I am noticing a pretty serious degradation in performance in Ableton Live 8 while running jitter patches. I think my patches are pretty small and simple, and so I would not expect them to slow things down this way. Is there something simple to keep in mind in order to enhance program efficiency in Jitter? For example, I am not doing anything explicitly to offload any work to a separate graphics processor, although I do read about patches that do this.
I'm just blending together two or three quicktime video streams by means of a little video mixer patcher I wrote. It looks great, but Live starts getting choppy.
I using MaxforLive and Live in a Macbook Pro with 4 Gig of RAM.
Turn off the overdrive function in max....It will improve the speed of live
i think m4l patches are locked to overdrive mode(wrong?). but [deferlow] has always been a good helper for me to deal with it.
It seems I can unlock overdrive in the MAX preferences dropdown. I am giving this a try.
11olsen, could you give me an example of how you use deferlow? Many thanks.
