I'm wondering why in the jitter xfade patch if the video from the 1st inlet is disconnected, then the video stops playing altogether? It seems like the video from the 1st input is somehow driving the video in the 2nd input?

Would be grateful to find out why this might be happening:

in most Jitter objects (as with most Max objects), the 

i'm not seeing the problem in the patch you posted, since even if the left inlet is stopped it's still outputting frames and therefore triggering the gl.pix to output. if the patch is altered to use jit.movie @unique 1, then stopping the movie playback will stop frame output from the gl.pix. solution is to keep unique disabled (or use some logic to send a bang to the gl.pix left outlet when the left input source is stopped).
