Just a question about groove duck
Hi, I have colour the background of flonum in red, it is controlling something called duck time, what is duck time? what does this control? is it an effect? Thanks Wendy
Since the output of the red floating point number box is not connected to anything, It doesn't do anything.
I expect that the red stuff is left over from someone else's patch that has either had stuff removed from it, or that you've removed it yourself inadvertently.
As a look at the groove~ object help file [option-click on the groove~ object in an unlocked patch] and the groove~ object's refpage - which is a listing of EVERY message the object understands - suggests, there is no message to that object of that sort.
That means that either the person from whom you got the patch has created something that ducks the loop at its beginning and ending themselves (and that part of the patch is missing), or that they're using an older Max external object by that name which may or may not work in your version of Max (you can search for such objects at www.maxobjects.com). I don't know which is the case.
By the way - you can check the refpage by opening the patcher window's sidebar (click on Open Sidebar in the patcher window toolbar), clicking on an object to select it, and then clicking on the Reference tab at the top of the sidebar.
You can find the answers to lots of questions like these by choosing "Max Help" from the Help menu, and then typing what you want information about into the Search area on the right of the Max 6 Help and Documentation window.
Hi, this is my patch, but I just did not copy everything in it, because I through this might be easy to read, I have attach duck time to a dial, but I not sure what duck time does. This patch below show what I have connect it to, but this is still not my full patch.
And I copy the duck time bit out of grooveduck.
Everything work in my patch, but I do not what number I need to scale duck time to, to make it work smooth, I through if I knew what it control this would help.
I have look in max help and it just said "optional second argument specifies duck time. (not channel offset!)" and I not sure what that means.
Here is the patch I copy it from the max msp help file.
And there is no refpage on grooveduck or duck time.
Thanks for your help and advice, do you have anymore information, or can anyone else help please,
Thanks Wendy
Ah. This isn't a help file at all - it's from the examples folder. Asking more precise questions will almost always make it easier to get a good answer.
The value sets the number of milliseconds to fade the looped section in/out to avoid obvious clicks.
I sense a language barrier.
"Wendy Smith"? Consider my eyebrow raised.
