Kawai K5000 editor
Has anyone written an editor for a synth before? Specifically the
K5000s from Kawai. Really any editor done in SYSEX would be probably
helpful in figuring out how to approach creating this. Any help in
this way would be helpful.
Thanks
Are you doing this in Max because you need to edit the K5000 from Max
or because you don't know about this? http://perso.orange.fr/
xazahouse/index.html (is missing a few features, though).
The MidiQuest 10 XL editor for the K5000 seems a lot better than the
v.9 editor, too, based on a very small amount of mucking around with it.

It would be nice to edit the K5000 from Max since I could customize
the interface but other than that, if there's a nice editor out there
(MidiQuest looks okay, haven't tried it) I would use it instead of
creating my own.
I knew about the Xaza's house editor (which from my small amount of
use with it) seems to be extremely slow to use, interface-wise.

Only problem with the MidiQuest stuff is that the interface is a bit
awkward and that it's kind of pricey. The new version can be run as a
VST plugin, which is pretty rad, although I haven't had a chance to
test that yet.
And it seems to be the only game in town these days for universal ed/
libs - UniSyn gets updates about once a decade and SoundDiver was
killed off by Apple. Too bad - I really liked SD. If you've got more
than a couple of hardware synths, it's a real hassle to find
standalone editors for each one.
Anyway, I'm hoping to play around some more in the next day or two
with the MQ K5K editor - I'll let you know what I think.
