Key combination to select cables only in Max 5?

In Max 4/Macintosh it was possible to select only cables by holding both alt and command keys while dragging.

I cannot find an equivalent of this functionality in Max 5.

The same combination is now used to select a group of objects and resize it.

One must perform two operation to achieve the cable selection in Max 5:
1. Hold the alt key, click and drag the mouse over the object and cables to select.
2. Release the alt key, hold the shift key and drag over selection again. Objects are excluded from the selection while cables are kept within.

Is there a faster way to do it in Max 5?
