korg microkey-37 midi input problems

Hi there, I'm a Max n00b, been using it for a few weeks in class. My computer is a Windows 7.

I have a Korg microkey-37 (usb MIDI keyboard), which Max recognizes in the MIDI Setup window (boxes are checked for both input & output). I tried to connect it with a [ctlin] object (with 3 number boxes attached). Double-clicked on it, selected the microkey. BUT! Nothing is happening to the number boxes when I press the keyboard keys. I also opened the MIDI Tester window; the device is there, but the tester isn't reacting.

I've used the microkey with Korg's M1 Le synthesizer program & Guitar Pro, and it works fine in both. I have no idea what can be wrong. Please help, thanks!
