Legato 100 60000 0
Hi, I've been reading Peter Elsea's BasicSynthesis tutorial and he has patches in the pdf file. The patches have the object Legato 100 60000 0. I tried typing it but it's not an object. What is it? Is that a subpatch? Can someone explain how it works.
Also, can someone recommend me tutorials to go through. Many times I feel very discouraged with composing because I am trying to find the right techniques to create sounds. The only programs I use right now are Adobe Audition, Max/MSP, AudioMulch, and very sparingly Csound which I'm poor at.
Hi,
Legato is an object from the Lobjects library.
I believe you can download it here: http://arts.ucsc.edu/EMS/Music/research/Lobjects.readme.html
Best,
Nicolas

Dear Nicolas,
Do you know how I can get the objects working in Max/MSP. I downloaded a bunch of zip files, but I can't seem to make them work with Max/MSP. I don't think I downloaded the legato object either because I didn't see it in the zip. Do you know how I can add other objects and what zip has the legato in it? Thank you very much.
Best,
John
Hi,
I'm guessing you're using max/msp on windows. Honestly I've never ever used max/msp on windows.
However, there's a readme file (Lobjects_Win_readme.txt) that explains how to install the Lobjects on windows. I'll paste the instructions here straight out of that readme file:
Getting Lobjects to work in windows
First make sure the files are truely unzipped:
Make an empty folder in C:Program FilesCommon FilesCycling'74externals
open the zip file, select all of the contents and copy to clipboard (control C)
paste them in the new folder. (control V)
Make a new folder called Lobjects-help
Now pick out the help files (sort by type) and drag them to the new folder, then move it to
C:Program FilesCycling'74MaxMSP 4.3max-help
Second: You need a magic file in C:Program FilesCycling'74MaxMSP
msvcr71.dll (you'll get this with 4.5).
I checked and the one you're looking for (Legato.mxe) is in Lpack_4.
Best,
Nicolas
