linear to logarithmic scaling

I just made some level meters for myself (i prefer how they look to the default msp meter~).

However i need to turn the input from a linear ramp from 0. to 1. into a logarithmic ramp so that they display level in a more useful way.

Linedrive seems to be the way to do this, but I don't fully understand the help patch.

Any tips on how to go about this?
