List scripting names of all bpatchers in patch without JS?

Quick question: I'm looking for a way to maintain a dynamically updated list of all bpatchers currently present in a top-level patch, identified by their scripting names.
My initial starting point for testing had been the idea that each bpatcher could contain a loadbang and freebang that would send "getattributes" to an autopattr in the parent patch. Of course, this doesn't work because bpatchers with files already loaded into them apparently can't be bound to pattr.
This leads me to wonder whether I'm overthinking the whole thing and whether there isn't a much simpler way to go about it. My strong preference would be to get this done without JS if at all possible. Any thoughts would be welcome!
