Live 10 and Max - disadvantages not using the bundled version?

I just purchased Live 10 Suite and realised that the bundled Max version is still Max 8.0.0. Live has the option to use an external instance of Live. Taking into account, that the update cycles of Live and Max don't seem to be synced it appears to me the better option to use an external Max installation to be up to date with bugfixes.

Besides probably a longer load time on startup - are there any disadvantages to be considered not using the bundled version? Are there differences in latency, processor load, genreal performance?

Does anyone know what Cycling'74 says about this? And/Or has anyone made tests or has experiences with bundled vs external Max instance?

Thanks - that's good to know. though i probably will continue with the external Max application. (not very fond of beta version in production machines ;) )
