live video to particle in Jitter?
Hi all,
I've searched but not found an immediate solution. This is a project I'm considering but looking for what's been done and if I can learn from previous existing projects.
What I'd like to do is to take live video input, abstract a certain color and be able to create particle tracers from that that linger over the rest of the video that carries on as normal, for a given duration.
Possible? (probably yes) - any examples you might suggest?
Sorry if this is noobish or obvious - I'm hella-rusty these days.
Cheers,
Bill
Federico Foderaro made something to do this: https://www.patreon.com/posts/from-video-to-31976476
It's on patreon, not free, but it works very good (and gl3 !!)
You can have a look at this: https://cycling74.com/forums/sharing-is-fun-fluid-simulation-on-the-gpu
I also have this patch which I found on the forum but I can't find the thread.
Thanks Yoann,
I found Federico’s site but hadn’t seen that patch (I guess because of the patreon) but I’ll see if I can check it out later.
And thanks very much for the patch you found - I’ll look at that today when I’m in the studio.
Cheers!
Bill
Hi Yoann,
Seems the patch you posted is missing a couple of shaders (or I am anyway):
jit.gl.shader: can't find file particleshader_2.jxs
jit.gl.shader: can't find file ab.hsflow.jxs
But thanks for replying - much appreciated.
Best,
Bill
Hey fellows, I actually made a tutorial that can point you in the right direction:

Thanks very much Federicofod. Very useful. Do you think this could be accomplish with live video?
Cheers,
Bill
Yes for sure, as YOANN said I have a patch in my Patreon that does exactly that:
